Advantages: 1. 从小develop an interest in technologies, 这对于他们未来的学习生活有很多的好处。 2. 这些科技也可以起到一些教育的目的。过去的孩子业余时间主要是户外活动，现在的孩子可以在电脑上学习编程。电脑游戏也能培养logical thinking and problem solving.
Disadvantages: 1. 很多孩子把free time用来玩游戏。Gaming can be highly addictive，尤其是对于缺乏自控能力的小孩。所以就会导致很多的问题，比如缺乏睡眠，缺乏运动，占用学习时间。 2.让小孩过多的时间生活在一个虚拟的世界中(live in a virtual world)， 但是spending time with other children and sharing non-virtual experiences is an important part of a child's development that cannot be provided by technologies.
In conclusion: 缺点大于优点，科技在小孩业余时间的使用要受到控制和监督。 |
写作范文 | Recent advances in technology have exerted a strong influence on how youngsters use their leisure time. It leads to an argument about its beneficial and adverse effects. I am more of the belief that the positive sides of modern technologies surpass the negative ones.
On the one hand, high-tech devices such as computers or mobile phones give children more chances to have an access to the whole new world which has much knowledge for them to acquire. This tool is utterly advantageous to search for any information they take interest in due to the fact that it is really fast, convenient and accurate. Besides, using the modern equipment can also be the most useful way to reduce stress and relax for children. Through millions of means of entertainment like films, cartoons or games, they can choose from the entertainment and enjoy themselves while their parents are on duty. Rather than hanging out with friends in the past, children will find that this way of enjoying their free time is much more pleasing and safer.
On the other hand, overusing these devices can lead to a number of drawbacks that will definitely do direct harm to children. First of all, spending youngster’s free time too much in front of the television or computer screen can undeniably affect children’s health. Even worse, this leads to many incurable diseases like short-sightedness or inaccurate development in bones. Furthermore, I am of great concern that future generation will have no connectivity within the community and they do not even stay in touch with their nearest neighbours on account of using all their time for highly-advanced technologies available in their house.
In a nutshell, I am utterly convinced that the advantages of latest technologies can beat their disadvantages provided that their owners make use of them in an intelligent way. |
