The following bar chart illustrates changes of the proportion of Australian males and females preferring not to do physical activities with different age in 2005. The graph demonstrates that the number of both males and females rose similarly with age.

Compared with changes in the ratio of males of other age group, there was a sharper growth in that during age 44-53 to 32% from age 25-34.

In terms of females who do not do physical exercise, the graph shows a steady increase in their proportion from the bottom at 19% of 18-24 to the top at 25% of over 75 without any diminish. However, the ratio of age 18-53 grew up much more slowly by 8% till age 54-64.

In conclusion, a rising number of adults did not do exercise in Australia in 2005 with age. While the number of males who do not do exercise of 18-24, 24-34, 65-74, and over75 was larger than that of female counterparts, it was smaller of age 44-53 and 54-64. 参考范文

Two line charts illustrate variations of number of visits from France and North America to United Kingdom for business and holiday reasons respectively.

It can be seen from the first chart that the difference between the number of French travelers and that of North Americans for business purpose was comparatively constant and minute, showing a similar trend of ups and downs. From around 0.1 million and roughly 0.2 million respectively in January, figures witnessed a slight fluctuation across the whole year, arriving at the highest point at approximately 0.47 million and about 0.3 million in October.

When it comes to holiday visits, the number of French travelers to United Kingdom steadily increased from 0.4 million in January to 3 million in September. After that time, the figure underwent a sudden decline from 3 million to 0.5 million in December. The figure of North America visits shared an analogous but more moderate pattern, during which time the figure rose from 0.6 million in January to 1.7 million in July before dropping to 0.7 million in December, which is close to the starting point.

Overall, more North American travelers visit United Kingdom than French visitors for both travel and business purposes.

Task 2 考题题库

1)同意与否类:

Some people think the most important thing about being rich is helping other people. To what extent do you agree or disagree with the statement?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

参考范文

It is no doubt true that the majority of people would like to be rich in their lives. Then what is the most important thing to do next for the rich? The answer should be various and I am sure helping other people is the most important thing to do.

People are born with a desire to please themselves and giving a hand to the poor for those who own a lot of money is a great way to earn everlasting happiness. Actually, many institutions around the world are founded aiming at helping people in need. For example, China Charity Federation, consisting of individuals and other social organizations that are strengthened financially and enthusiastic about charity, provide shelters for homeless people and offer supplies immediately to places under natural and man-made disasters.

Some may argue assistants to other ones do not always make the wealthy feel the happiness they deserve. Instead, they may feel they are taken advantage of, even though it is the right thing to do. It sounds reasonable because selfishness is human’ nature. Practically, this view is one-sided. Helping those in great needs, in return, brings benefits to rich men and their business. For instance, excess inventory has several causes, some of which are inevitable. One common way to dispose this merchandise is to contribute them to charity to help children living in freezing and adults suffering from unemployment. By this way can the reputation of rich ones and their companies be enhanced and their sales be boosted. So it is a win-win approach.

Overall, I believe making effort to help others is the most important thing for being rich.
